I could use some help with Electical 101.

I've just purchased a set of four, dual filament, front turn signals to replace smaller bullet style lights on the Savage currently in order to be more visible at night. The existing front lights connect up to three (live?) wires coming in from the wiring harness. The existing rear lights connect up to two live wires and there is a third unused (ground?) wire. (I'm pretty sure it's a ground because I did a volt meter check on the three wires to each rear light). I'd like to make the rear signal lights also function as full time running lights, like the front signal lights do.

Problem is that the new lights I bought have only two wires, although one is marked "turn signal" and the other is marked "running lamp". Did I goof and get the wrong lights? Do I need a three wire version for the front? What can I do about the back? I've hooked up the new rear lights to the two live wires from the harness, but it doesn't operate as a running light, only as a turn signal that's off unless the turn signal switch is engaged.

Thanks for your help.

Don
